Tips on Writing a Persuasive Essay

Introduction

A persuasive essay follows the same outline as write my paper essays containing usually five paragraphs. The main structure is given below.

Persuasive Essay Outline

Thesis Statement - What you are going to argue for (this should be debatable)

Body Paragraph 1 - First point in favor of your argument can be used in this paragraph (give an example or a quote from a person who supports your idea).

Body Paragraph 2 - Second point against your argument used here ideally with counter-example, but can also use another quote which will support your argument)

Body Paragraph 3 - Third thing that favors your opinion. You need at least 3 body paragraphs to prove a good thesis statement. Each one should be more convincing than the previous one.

Conclusion – One final point in favor of your idea, summing everything you have said previously. This would also contain a strong call to action e.g. Vote for me and I promise you better future etc. You can end at this point with a rhetorical question that will make them think or ask them to take any further action by providing some form of response mechanism, e.g Respond now and win £1000.)

Tip 1: Thesis statement

In persuasive essay you are going to try and change someone's mind. In order to do this, you need to either:

Anger the reader by showing that they have made a mistake in their beliefs before, which leads them to accept your view or

Give an example of a similar event/idea where the reader is more likely to agree with you, making them think that it would be best for them as well if they had the same idea or belief as what you are arguing for.

Tip 2: Organize your thoughts into 3 points and back up each one with some examples and quotes from experts on the subject. (As many as possible). Each body paragraph should start with an introductory sentence. This will catch your reader's attention and make them want to read on.

Tip 3: Use a strong concluding sentence (which includes the thesis statement) that sums up what you have said before and include a call-to-action element such as "Vote for me" or "Please answer the questions in the form below"

tip 4: Other ways of writing persuasive essay could be presenting some new idea, showing that something is good/bad for someone with concrete examples. You need to say why it is good or bad for someone e.g A new video game console is better than its predecessor because… etc. If you are trying to educate readers about dangers of something use statistics and quotes from experts which supports your argument ("The average time spend on Facebook by teenagers is X hours per week. This could cause problems in their future as…….")

Tip 5: When you make a claim or give your thesis statement be careful to use the passive voice rather than the active voice e.g Instead of saying "I believe that..." use "It has been found that..." or similar phrase which makes it clear that you are not responsible for this statement. Try and establish some credibility for yourself, where possible don't say things like "I think we should invade Iraq" instead present facts ("The government has found large amounts of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) there, so if we did not intervene then thousands more people would die every year from them").

Tip 6: Use the word "you" to address your audience and make it clear who you are trying to persuade. You can also try and get them interested in what you have to say by using rhetorical questions that directly relate to them e.g Why not vote for me? What do you have to lose?

Tip 7: If relevant use statistics figures, facts, or quotes from experts (always use credible sources) like professors, doctors etc. this will give your argument credibility as well as let readers develop a sense of trust with your write my paper for me essay practice.
